Harem Today

I was in New York City last weekend (because that's how I roll, you know?) and everywhere I looked there were harem pants.

They were in all different lengths and all different colors and all kinds of people were wearing them with all kinds of accessories. Some had sandals and some had heels. Some had T-shirts and some had blazers. But everyone was wearing harem pants.

(Sidenote: Do you feel that harem pants is just sort of a made-up name to distract from the fact that these are actually MC Hammer pants?)

This is one trend I personally didn't think would make it from the catwalk to the sidewalk, but fashion-forward New Yorkers have proved me wrong.

What do you think of this trend?
Is a pair of harem pants next on your wish list?

There is absolutely nothing attractive about these pants. It seriously looks like these women have a load in their drawers. That said, I guess this will be just another fashion trend I miss out on : )

Horrible!!! I can't believe this is even up for debate. They look like they have gigantic saggy butts.

I don't understand the trend. They're so unattractive for women. I remember those MC Hammer pants, too, and these "harem" pants look too similar not to be the same. Fuuugggllly!!

Stop: Hammertime!

I stayed away from this trend in the 80's (mostly) so hopefully it will die out before it reaches the west coast!

I don't see myself putting "m.c. harem" pants on any wishlist of mine, but I can't say I'd never. You know?

I think it's a hideous trend, but maybe someone will wear them right and I'll think, "hey, maybe I could do that."

I hate to be so negative...but these pants remind me of my baby's diaper when she needs changing...saggy at the crotch. Ugh.

I cannot say that I'm a fan, in terms of look or comfort. Really I'd rather just wear a skirt, you know?

My husband says the only time he was ever popular in school was when his mom made him and his brothers a bunch of M.C. Hammer pants. I don't think I would have been if I had known him. ;)

Fashion Forward indeed- I'm not in love with this look right out the gate, but I won't rule it ut just yet...Cameron Diaz wore something similar, almost like, a Harem pant jumper on Fallon and she looked really great. The high heels she was wearing are what sustained the outfit though...

nyc's actually behind--harem pants were EVERYWHERE when I was in Europe this time last year, especially in Barcelona. I actually like some of the subtler versions--it's always nice to see new shapes and cuts, plus, hey, if you ever have an accident, nobody has to know...

I do not like anything about these pants! No thanks!

What's funny is that there could not possibly be a wrong way to wear these pants. I mean, can you tell the difference between the front and back? What do they flatter? Could you possibly wear anything that would detract from them. Certainly a statement, and what does it say about the individual? Where would you wear them? They are just hideous and seriously reminiscent of Vanilla Ice. I am just not into it.

I love the harem. I do feel however, there is a certain figure that can pull it off. It's very fashion forward and I love that.

I do not like this look at all. These women are thin, must work out, eat well, and they look like their butts fell off into their pants. No thanks. I just came back from NYC and was surprised at how many women were wearing boots. It's finally warm out- why boots?

Ladies, and gentlemen. Please, please, please. Do. Not. Wear. These. Ever. Let's finish this blog off with, Harem Today, Gone Tomorrow. PLEASE!!!

I personally can't get with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about wearing what you like and fitting fashion into your style, but this fashion recipe, well... it's just not my style... I'm gonna rip it out of my cook book and burn it... okay, maybe that was a little harsh... nope, it's fitting.

Ralph Lauren did it in gold lame. Yikes. This look should die a slow painful death.

Sorry but, I just find the "trend" to be horribly unattractive, and extremely well, gross really. No femininity here.

I think this looks asinine. It's definitely an example of people preferring looking fashionable over looking sane or attractive. All I can think of when I look at these silhouettes is a saggy diaper.

I wish I could make my eyes throw up and be rid of that scarring image.
