30 Days, 30 Styles, One Magic Dress
Here is an inspiring Tuesday story.
A while back we got a little note from one Miss Susie Stusek, who was about to undertake a project I think most of us wouldn't even be able to fathom, namely wearing the same dress every day for 30 days.
And why would our friend Susie do such a thing, you ask?
Well, to support The Daughter Project, a non-profit organization based in northwestern Ohio that helps victims of sex trafficking overcome the trauma of their experiences, and works to prevent other women and girls from being trafficked.
As it happens, Susie's hometown of Toledo, Ohio is one of the top five cities in the country for sex trafficking, so Susie asked her friends and family and co-workers to sponsor her-- and her one dress-- for 30 days. In addition to wearing the same dress for 30 days, Susie also pledged not to buy any new clothes for herself for 30 days, with all the money she would have spent shopping going to The Daughter Project instead.
So far Susie is pretty much the coolest person any of us have heard of, right?
The original goal was to raise $500, but Susie ended up with much more than that.
Here at Shabby Apple, we were happy to pitch in any way we could, so when Susie contacted us looking for an easy-to-wear, versatile dress for her 30-day challenge, we were more than happy to oblige! We sent over the classy, comfy Jitterbug dress and Susie took it from there.
Check out a sampling of her creative styling.
In the end, Susie said it was an amazing experience to get over always thinking about "me, me, me." And I certainly feel inspired to do the same thing.
Not that I am signing up for 30 days in the same dress just yet, mind you. But, if I was, I think I might go for Da Vinci, a classic jersey dress, or the fun sophistication of 16 Candles, one of my all-time favorites.
How about you?
What Shabby Apple dress would you wear for 30 days?

such great style and photos! love the idea, and that it raised money for such an important cause. go susie!
I would go for the Da Vinci, or the Roma.
Wow, what creativity. Each look very different from the rest - and an excellent cause.
AWESOME!
I am really intrigued and would like to do this! Especially starting my job with Legal Aid at the end of May, I think it would be a great combination of trying to think of other people.
I like the forbidden city dress, the sophistique and the up and away dress. Maybe I will try to do a blog wide project this summer!
The Espina Bonita, for sure! Nothing more versatile than classic black jersey!
I'm fascinated by projects like this one, and The Uniform Project. I love the idea! I'm just not sure I have the discipline to do it. I do love me some new clothes.
SO cool! I love this idea although I don't think I'd be able to be that creative for 30 days in a row!
I heard about this project and absolutely love the results!
There was another project like this, which may have started first, called The Uniform Project. Pretty inspiring and shows that we don't really need as many clothes as most of us own. Check out this other project too; I think there were other girls continuing for a month each. Sorry, don't have the website on me!
I saw her featured on another blog. It really is just awesome. I even saw someone take on the idea for a different cause. Wows me. Simply wows me!
da vinci, for sure!
I've seen a few people do that challenge and I'm always so inspired. Way to put yourself aside for a good cause!

the Da Vinci would be perfect for that
Fabulous idea and fabulous fundraising idea. It really makes you think outside the box more with the versatility of the dress.
