I was totally stumped for a long time about what to do, because there are so many options!
For a minute I was thinking maybe potted plants that wedding guests could take home as gifts. Plus potted plants seemed more environmentally friendly somehow, and you know how I love Planet Earth.
And then of course there is always a more traditional cut flower arrangement. I love the smell and look and feel of fresh flowers and I would buy them every day if I could.
But, I finally settled on a more "whimsical and eclectic" option (to use the words of my wedding planner) and we're going to go with some funky colored bottles filled with small fall blooms. Sort of like this.
I figure people can still take them home if they want, but they aren't stuck with a plant they feel like they have to keep alive. Cool bottles like that can be used for anything, after all.
Or, if you're looking for a similar option that also lets you indulge that DIY craving, you might consider these recycled bottled centerpieces. Because you certainly don't need to have a wedding to need to have a centerpiece, after all.

Talk to me friends.
What is your central piece of centerpiece inspiration?

I had a really casual wedding reception, and I had small games that people could play with each other while they were just sitting around/not eating. Card games, small board games, etc. Plus it gave me a reason to buy my own copies of some of my favorites!
Cute cute! Check out the chandelier centerpiece I whipped up last week.

I love the glass bottles! I got married in the winter and we had different shaped glass vases filled with clear marbles and white flowers. My brother got married in the summer and their centerpieces were little fish bowls filled with live goldfish. Super fun.
My daughter's wedding is this fall, and instead of fall colors, she chose gray & green. For centerpieces, we're using Granny Smith apples (which are inexpensive and plentiful) stacked on borrowed cake stands on half the tables. The other half will have tall vases (which the reception hall let us borrow) with branches in them & apples tucked around them. The guests can take them home with them afterward with a recipe for the bride & groom's specialty, Apple Pie!
Fantastic! I love recycled and fusion vases, flowers that aren't quiet what you expect.
I love that. Simple and elegant. I'm already married, but I can try that look to decorate my house. Very Impressive!!

There are some really cute tutorial online using modpodge and food dye to color glass bottles so they look antique. The downside is the color comes off when wet, but if you were to varnish the bottles, you'd be set! I love all your stuff, I just wish it was not so expensive.
I have yet to get married but I love whimsical centerpieces and stuff such as flowers floating in liquid in tall glasses.
Great article thanks for sharing!....
I love the flowers!
