Today we’re introducing a weekly
feature that we’re very excited about: Stylish Cinema! Remember that book
club you joined a while back, but then you never quite got around to
finishing the books? Well, this is essentially the same idea except each
week we’re watching a fashionable classic film and meeting back here to discuss
it.
This week’s film is Thoroughly
Modern Millie. It is, in a word, delightful—witty
lines, brilliant musical numbers, and loveable characters all wrapped up in
gorgeous 1920s attire. Is there anything more visually pleasing than a
monochromatic roomful of people dancing the “Tapioca”? It’s no surprise that
this fabulous film received an Academy Award nomination for best costume design!
Channel your inner Millie!
Do you love this movie and its stylish
characters as much as we do? Do you have a favorite scene, costume, or
character? What do you suppose being “a modern” would mean today? We’d love to
hear your thoughts!
Next week’s film: You Can’t Take It with You

One of my very favorite movies. I was not thrilled that they took it and made a musical on Broadway for it because it really stands on its own. Thanks for showcasing it!
Adorable. Muzzy is my favorite!
You can never go wrong with modern wear!! It's always just so classy!
